Life in UK…without mamak :.( sobx
It’s been 2 months staying in Newcastle. i used to ask around about the lifestyle in uk but no one really gave me a definite answer or…i guess i weren’t really listening or dun believe wat they said. Now i know why n this is my part of the story.
There are 4 types of people i observed. The nerds, socialist, workaholics and drunkards.
Nerd’s life: very independant people. They go to school without missing any classes…with notes and answers to seminars. When back to hostel, cook n eat in. Stay in room study/do homework/keep checking the school’s website/do weekly laundry. Else, study/do reserch in library and only shop when necessary. Sleep at appropriate time. Some mayb too bored will go to church or christian gatherings. usually book worms or ppl who r afraid to fail in exams.
Socialist(aka the party people): party at clubs most of the nights from weekdays to weekends. Never miss tuesdays n thursdays (i think it’s a trend) or special events. Try not to go to classes but full attendance at clubs. Cigarettes are candies, alcohol are juice. Generally rich people but share most of the time (particularly like to share notes in class n have similiar answers for seminars). Only do laundry when they have to, especially when running out of clothes to go party else, share with friends again. Eats in or out depending on mood and never eats alone. Happy go lucky people n loves to shop. May fail in exams if not careful.
Workaholics: Addictors of spending. Work to accomplish such mission of neverending spending. Dun mind whatever the work is as long as get paid. Not poor but just spendrifts. Spend heartily either materially, at casinos and when at parties with the socialist. Clubs when not working. Very generous n smart people. No need to study much coz work and hardly fail. Rarely goes to library. Hangout with likewise people. Out door type, always eat out, loves to shop, travel or party…anything involves spending.
Drunkards: Goes to club and never fails to get drunk. Alcohol is water, cant live without it. Friends of socialist but less loud people coz most of the time they are seen to be drinking. Smell of either alcohol, cigarrets or vomit. Does miracle or i should say they have Masters in: still manage to go home after getting drunk.
Note that there’s no more my favourite part of student life regardless which category i’m in: YAMCHA at mamak haiz…closest thing to tat is yam-vodka and where the setting of mamak turns into club/pub. Instead of talking at mamak, were forced to shout to each other coz the music too loud and most of the time nods and pretend to have heard wat the other was saying -_-"
Shops closest mostly at 5pm and mostly only pubs/clubs are open at nite. Rarely any shops tat sells food opens at nite. Will have to starve till morning if u’re hungry after dinner time n there’s no more food in the house.
That’s the life in UK and part of the reasons y i miss Malaysia so much…
